designer series obsession

so i think it is safe to say that i've got a bit of an OPI DS obsession going on right now. and i'm willing to accept that. this manicure ended up being a layering mani, so first i'll show you the DS polish that started it all. OPI DS (Designer Series) in Signature. this polish is a semi-sheer holographic ultra micro glitter concoction. and i love it! the DS series has a different brush, and i absolutely love it. i started with 2 coats (opaque) of Signature and then used China Glaze Crackle Glaze in Broken Hearted. then i used 1 coat of Essie in Streamers (as if i didn't have enough glitter going on already) to complete the look. i topped the manicure with my new favorite top coat, ColorClub 0-60.

my camera had such a hard time focusing-but this gives a good glimpse of the holographic-ness

this is really the only shot where you can get an idea of the crackle

special post: OPI's Day of Shatter

good afternoon, everybody!
today i have a very special post, for a manicure i did for OPI's Day of Shatter. i think that this is just OPI's way of seeing how many people actually use Shatter...but i'll celebrate anyways! it took me quite a while to think of something special for this mani. the only actual OPI Shatter i have is White Shatter. so i knew that i would need to create a unique look. first, i used 3 coats of OPI Designer Series in Royal. i am head over heels for this polish. absolutely without a doubt obsessed. i really didn't want to paint over it actually, i thought i was going to have to start over. then i used 1 coat OPI White Shatter, and when it dried i used one thin coat OPI Teenage Dream (from the Katy Perry Collection)...this was actually a great idea on my part. the Teenage Dream turned the white shatter into a pastel pink/purple instead. the look is very holographic ( a little less Shatter-y than what i was hoping for) but still drop dead gorgeous!

Wet n Wild Gray's Anatomy

good morning! since i'm having a little crush on all things holographic and 3D, when i saw Wet n Wild's Gray's Anatomy, i had to get it (how can you turn down $1.99 polishes) and see if it was as color-shifting as it is in the bottle. and it is! its such a cool, icy metallic. it changes from grayish purple to grayish blue. the formula was very thin and i was not a big fan of the bushy-tailed cheap brush. at least the formula was fast drying, since i needed 4 coats for full opacity. in the future, i will probably use this as a layering polish.

shoot me into 3D Cyberspace!

today, i have a very exciting manicure. just watching my fingers type this article is dazzling. i have a 3D MANIC MANICURE! i started with one thick coat of OPI Shrek Collection in What's With The Cattitude? which is a light baby blue. this polish was hard for me to apply, the formula was thick and did not want to spread around evenly on my nails. i used What's With The Cattitude? as a base for Milani 3D Holographic nail laquer in shade #512, Cyberspace, because when i did a sample of it on my thumb, it was very sheer. Cyberspace is an ultra glittery holographic light blue polish. i applied two coats to my nails and was instantly impressed. this is my very first 3D manicure and certainly not the last. Cyberspace was very easy to apply, with a thinner brush and fast-drying formula. i topped my mani with China Glaze Fast Forward top coat, as always!
